Visit to Nairobi - mid May-mid June'05
Thank you all for your prayers during my visit to Kenya this summer. I had
a wonderful trip. Visited some with Made in the Streets, the Organization
I worked for before I came to the states. But also got a chance to visit
with my mom. For quite sometime, my mom had some health and personal problems
and it was nice to spend time with her. A mother-son eating, shopping
etc, type of thing.
I am so thankful to Varisburg Church of Christ in NY, members of Evergreen Church of Christ in Colorado, Scott Sammel's family, The Robertsons and many of you who are keeping this work in your prayers everyday. God's kingdom is getting richer because of your faithful deeds. I am filled with joy at this time as Kevin and Deborah Darbee from Stormville NY are extending their support to this organization in a special way. May God continue blessing all the brothers and sisters for your kind hearts as you keep supporting and praying for this organization. I had a wonderful visit with different organizations around Eastleigh and Mathare in Nairobi, God willing I will be working with these organizations in the future when I move back. They are excited about the idea that MACO want to work with them to help the homeless kids in Nairobi. MACO will help them create opportunities for other kids from the streets by enrolling their students to MACO to learn trade. I also got a chance to visit some street kids at the bases in Eastleigh. I had brought trail mix from the States with me to give out, they liked the mix very much. We had lunch together at the kiosk near their St. Teresas' base, I knew it was a one time thing when we went for lunch, but they appreciated it very much. I pray that God will take advantage of those -ones in awhile lunches- to impact these kid's lives. 
Plans for summer 2006Some Board members of Make a Change Organization will travel to Nairobi to visit with the already existing organizations there, visit some of the street bases and spend sometime with Made in the Streets staffs.Henry is going to talk to Steve from Otter Creeck Church of Christ to see the possibilities that are available and see how the team from Michigan can best serve Made in the Streets ministry in Nairobi. |
